Insurance Inspections – HSG 236 Thorough examination of Power Presses The legislation covering the use of Power Presses has changed with the introduction of HSG236 : 2003 – Power presses: Maintenance and thorough examination. This legislation supplements good practice in maintenance of presses, focuses on thorough examination and test and gives details of what should be examined by a competent person. It can be used to set minimum service and maintenance standards and the references to electrical or electronic systems focussed on Electro Sensitive Protection Systems (ESPS). MPPS can provide the Competent Person to undertake thorough examination of your Power Presses and report on the condition of your machines and any work that may be necessary. Some companies may prefer to use their own Insurance Company Inspector and in such cases MPPS can provide service personnel to prepare the machine for examination by the Insurance Inspector and then re-assemble after inspection. Should any work or replacement parts be deemed necessary following the inspection MPPS would be pleased to quote for such work. HSE booklets also available upon request:
